Very good hue for age; ultra-traditional McLaren Vale style made from a single 70-year-old vineyard plot; not only are there strong red fruits, but also that regional dark chocolate joining with life-sustaining tannins.

Deep, dark red colour with a purple rim. The aroma is dusty, earthy and savoury, with a subtle hint of jam; the palate is full-bodied and earthy black fruit flavoured, with a sooty regional nuance. There's a dry, peppery, almost bitter sensation on the aftertaste. A quite big structured wine, generously endowed and very satisfying. It's big but balanced and very appealing. (From dry-grown vines planted in the 1940s on sandy soil)
