THE REAL REVIEW
Deep, bright and vibrant purple-red colour, with a bouquet of melted chocolate, the palate chiming in with espresso coffee and mocha as well. Deep, dark red-purple colour with a trace of black, the bouquet savoury—not showing overt oak, but toasty-earthy with hints of licorice, dried herbs, and brown spices. Very full-bodied and powerful, with concentration and drive, the tannins ample and plush, coating the mouth, the finish long-lasting and warming. A very smart shiraz indeed. (Vines planted in 1961 from Old Bastard cuttings. 40% new oak, all French Burgundy barrels)
