About this product
In addition to its classic source—a parcel of old vines in Meruzzano—Rocca’s Barbaresco now takes in a selection of young-vine fruit from three Barbaresco Cru parcels: Ovello, Ronchi and Cottà. These sources, along with the winemaking (three weeks on skins and maturation exclusively in large Stockinger botti for 24 months), mean we can expect a pretty serious wine at this level. Opening up with knockout aromas of wild red fruits and swirling florals, it is clear from the get-go how well Rocca has played the vintage. It’s a sonnet to Barbaresco’s best attributes in 2018: aromatic presence, mouth-watering red fruit, model ripeness and elegance from head-to-toe. Tuck in.

“A beam of pure cherry is the hallmark of this round, supple red. Floral, mint, mineral and tobacco notes add depth as this unfolds gracefully to a lingering finish. This is firmly structured, yet balanced, with an aftertaste of fruit and wild herbs, tar and a chalky feel.” 94 points, Bruce Sanderson, Wine Spectator
