ThorleSaulheim Kalkstein Riesling Rheinhessen
About this product
Weingut Thorle is the leading light of the second wave of the Rheinhessen Renaissance. Since Johannes and Christoph Thörle took the helm in 2006, they have elevated the estate into a powerhouse for terroir-driven wines and put the village of Saulheim on the global wine map. Their signature lies in the deep limestone soils, producing Riesling and Pinot Noir defined by electric minerality, structural tension, and world-class precision.
The Thorle Saulheim Kalkstein Riesling is a standout "village-level" wine that punches well above its weight, rivaling the quality and power of a Grosses Gewächs (Grand Cru). Fermented with native yeasts in a blend of 60% old wooden barrel and 40% stainless steel, it is aged on lees for eight months. This balance creates a creamy texture while preserving the vibrant fruit. You will find intense aromas of orange zest and white peach layered with a salty, "ocean breeze" minerality. It is crisp and juicy on the palate, finishing bone-dry with a clean, stony saltiness. This is a serious, terroir-driven Riesling that offers world-class depth.

August 2023 What a charismatic personality and power this village wine has. Shines like a lighthouse in the storm! Stacks of orange zest and mandarin orange character. Gigantic structure that extends right through the super-clean finish. From organically grown grapes. Fermented and matured on the lees for six months in 60% large neutral oak and 40% in stainless steel. Drink or hold.
