Open-fermented, 9 days on skins, matured for 15 months in used American oak. The flag bearer for Shingleback, tasted over a year before its release in Mar '17. There is no reason whatsoever why it shouldn't emulate its illustrious predecessors, for it has that all-important quality of balance, and while powerful, isn't the least bit extractive. May well deserve higher points when released.

A McLaren Vale Scarce Earth selection. Deep, dark, dense purple/red colour and a rich, dark chocolate aroma, dense and concentrated, fleshy and fruit-sweet, solid and packed with flavour and extract. Black plums, slightly salty. Big tannins. A blockbuster, but a good one. (1450 bottles produced)
