Domaine ArnaudAucoeur Beaujolais Villages Vieilles Vignes 2019
About this product
Old bush vines close to the Aucoeur hearth, this is the familial benchmark and arguably the finest cru of the 10 in Beaujolais. A terrain of schist and vertiginous slopes delivers exotic accents of Asian spice, violet and hoisin, coaxed into forest floor and earthen, almost truffled accents, with patience. Fuller of frame and more structured, this is a top-drawer Morgon with the bones to develop over a decade. Be sure to drink it from a Pinot Noir glass. Suckling writes of Morgon’s ‘reputation for power’. Here it is!

Vintage 2019
90 points
Fragrant for this appellation, which has such a reputation for power. Lots of red beets and wild blackberries. Quite some acidity, but the abundant fruit and the touch of slightly sappy tannin carries it well. Food-friendly, also for dishes normally associated with dry whites. Drink now.
