While the Barossa is synonymous with shiraz, the region's cabernet plantings, too, are some of the world's oldest. Hailing from Moppa and Krondorf, this was fermented in tank and racked to hogsheads for malolactic conversion, imparting a smooth integration of fruit and oak, an advantage with the higher tannin quotient of cabernet. Varietal DNA is omnipresent: cassis, clove, cedar, graphite, bay leaf and a verdant undertow from fore to aft. Add a warmer Barossan tone and you get the picture. This is very good..

Medium to full red with purple tints, but a less-dense cabernet colour. The bouquet is also subdued, shy and reticent, and has some tobacco and humus-like notes. The wine is full-bodied and intense, tautly-focused and bright, with elegance and style. A very appealing cabernet, accessible now.
