Vintage 2016
96 points MW
Medium deepish crimson. Developed blackcurrant, espresso, cedar, mocha herb garden aromas with hint of chinotto. Supple, inky textured and multi-layered with fresh blackcurrant, plum, espresso flavours, fine looseknit silky tannins and underly savoury roasted chestnut, mocha, sous bois notes. Finishes chalky firm with lovely cassis, paneforte notes and attractive mineral length. Not a blockbuster vintage but beautifully balanced and complete. Drinking well now but should evolve an improve with age. Drink now to 2032.

Medium to deep ruby colour with just a trace of purple lingering. The aroma is of pungent herbs, briar and raspberry, with a trace of canned corn and raspberry cordial. Some mint later. The tannins are a little sticky and the aftertaste sappy. A curious cabernet, a cool-climate wine that's a bit borderline. Very lean and leafy.
