The wine honours pasturalist and parliamentarian John Riddoch, who was the largest land-owner in South Australia’s south-east corner. With his brother George, the two owned the freehold to more than 70,000 acres. John Riddoch Cabernet Sauvignon is made in small quantities from the best available fruit grown on the estate’s extensive Cabernet plantings.

Full bodied red wines have a noticeably textural mouthfeel with bold, complex flavours. Often deeply coloured.
Dry wines have no trace of sweetness at all.

Astonishingly youthful at 35 years; bright and fresh, lively and elegant, not oaky or tannic as the ensuing vintages became. Lovely balance with concentration. This bottle is so young, it still has 20 years in it (but it has been undisturbed in perfect cellaring at Wynns). A delicious drink and a great wine.
