Palish straw colour. Very strong mealiness and almost cheesy sur-lie complexity. Very rich, concentrated flavour, with some phenolic astringency which helps carry the wine with flavoursome food. Trace of bitterness from phenolics. Very interesting style. Lots of guts. This would get nowhere in a show, but it went terrifically with lunch of braised squid with borlotti beans; stuffed zucchini flowers, ocean trout with sorrel and beef carpaccio. A character wine!
