Visitors to the Joseph Chromy cellar in Launceston will already appreciate the outstanding quality of their purely Tasmanian wines. The 2021 Pinot Noir is everything that good Tassie Pinot should be - generous, layered, pure, and, above all, interesting to drink. Exotically spiced red fruit, crunchy cherry, tangy and lingering, invites an immediate 2nd and 3rd sip. Further examination finds a wealth of characters so avidly sought by Pinot fans - brambles, light French oak, undergrowth and earth, to name a few. Highly enjoyable right now, it exhibits an inner strength that suggests cellaring for 5 years will be advantageous.

Deep-ish red-purple colour; very good appearance; lots of smoked charcuterie but it's quite complex, also showing dark cherry/blackberry fruit and the flavour is deep and concentrated on the palate, powerful and elegant, very varietal and stylish with precision, drive and persistence. Impressive pinot, which will certainly also reward a little more cellaring.
