As expected given it's a reserve, there's more depth and detail with cherry-picked fruit off the best vineyards around Merricks and Red Hill. The 40% whole bunches in the ferment have added a lift to the already heady aromas of autumn leaves damp from rain, dark cherries woodsy spices and cedary oak. The palate is fuller-bodied, plush with ripe, velvety tannins, textural, too, and the finish lingers and lingers.

Full red with a good strong purple tint, the bouquet complex, spicy/stemmy and shows obvious but balanced whole-bunch fermented characters. A lick of classy oak. It's intense, bright and bold in the mouth with some richness and plenty of fine-grained, powdery tannins that persist. Great intensity and a delicious array of aromas and flavours. A very smart wine, and promises to age well.
