From dry-grown vines planted in 1984 and 2003 in the HVD vineyard. Basket pressed, extended lees contact, French oak (15% new), 50/50% cultured/wild yeast, fermentation initiated in tank then transferred to barrels. While the bouquet is relatively quiet, the palate is amazing. It borders luscious, not common with one-year-old chardonnay. The fruit rainbow has yellow peach at its centre, vibrant citrussy acidity driving the back palate and a lingering finish.

White peach, nougat and cashew. All estate fruit. This is remarkably taut, despite the mid-palate grunt and soaring length. A fine, mid-weighted chardonnay, despite the daily-drinking affordability. Excellent value. Chomp, chew and verve, with tangy nectarine lingering long. Drink or hold. Screw cap.
