Medium deep crimson. Intense liquorice, dark chocolate, blackberry aromas with toasty vanilla notes. Classical inky, blackberry, dark plum, dark chocolate flavours, vigorous fine graphite/ al dente tannins, superb roasted chestnut/ vanilla oak complexity and underlying persistent acidity. Finishes cedar firm with a brambly tannin plume. Superb density, richness and claret-like torque. A brilliant year for Bin 150. 12 months in American (24% new), French (23% new) and seasoned oak hogsheads and puncheons. Drink now – 2038 14.5% alc 98 points

One of the highlights of this year's Penfolds release, and one of the best Bin 150s to date. On pouring, the colour is strikingly deep black/purple - impenetrable. The rich theme continues as the intensity and complexity of the wine becomes apparent on the nose. A smorgasbord of enriching aromas from sweet, exotic spices to ripe plum, masses of black fruit, mocha tones, currants, and more. The inky palate is densely, but carefully, packed, the aforementioned aromas continuing, accompanied by a seamless flow of silky tannins. The result is an irresistably decadent and opulent wine in total balance. An epic Bin 150 - one for the ages. Glasses poured in ten to twenty years will be even more impressive.
