Very deep, saturated purple/red colour. The bouquet is brooding and profound, savoury spice, graphite and oak-tinged aromas leading into a richly-textured, full-bodied palate of great depth and fleshy suppleness. Tremendous length and wonderfully mysterious depths. Lovely now but it will build and build over a long career.

Some on our panel were claiming this to be the best "Michael" of all time. Whether it is or not, it is surely ONE of the best of all time. Like a sleek sportscar in 2nd gear, there's obvious power but at this stage, it's showing restraint. The red rose and violet nose is captivating. The supreme balance is obvious immediately, and the concentrated, escalating dark berry and cherry flavours unfurl, along with warm spices, in front of your very eyes - silky and serene. This is a great wine now and will remain so for many years.
