This is a big step up from the standard Elephant in the Room Pinot Noir – better fruit from the Adelaide Hills plus the quality of the 2021 vintage helping to provide plenty of real Pinot character at a sharp price. What I like most in the wine are the layers of subtle aromas – this is no fruit bomb. Dark cherry, spice and damp earth come together to provide an elegant start. The palate is then silky and fine – red and dark berry fruits lifted by spice before a slinky finish. While not hugely concentrated, it’s a very good example of Adelaide Hills Pinot which can be found under $20.

Sweetly ripe and inviting, the bouquet shows dark plum, cherry, floral, olive and subtle mushroom aromas, followed by a beautifully rounded palate that's ripe and supple. Elegant and smooth with a lengthy silky finish. At its best: now to 2025.
