Some of the vines were planted by Cyril Henschke in the 1960s. Matured in French hogsheads (35% new) for 18 months. Deep but brightly coloured, this is a no holds barred, full-bodied Eden Valley cabernet sauvignon that will live for decades, blessed by a screwcap. Blackcurrant fruit, touches of cedary oak, black olive, bay leaf and earthy tannins are all on parade.

Very deep, dark red/purple colour, with a pungent peppermint and raspberry cordial-like bouquet, laced with creosote and charred oak. Crushed gumleaves. The wine is full-bodied and powerful, concentrated and firmly tannic, the massive structure surrounding a core of sweet cassis-like fruit flavour. A very solid, rather extracted wine which concludes with a lot of chew. It needs more time.
