82.6/15.4/1/1% cabernet/merlot/petit verdot/cabernet franc. Matured for 18 months in French oak (40% new). Pierro is among the last producers in Margaret River to release a premium 2018 wine, and like the 2008 wines from Champagne, we await their arrival onto market with open wallets and bated breath. As ever, this is delicate and poised, a most elegant expression of cabernet. The fruit is decidedly red – peppered with Szechuan peppercorn, pomegranate molasses, raspberry and even cocoa dust (unusual for Margaret River, but certainly present here). The endurance of flavour through the finish is admirable. A fitting tribute to a beautiful vintage.
