Vintage 2008

A bouquet loaded with licorice, anise, five spice, exotic herbs and eucalyptus - an incredibly complex aromatic profile that leads to a palate showing gentle fruit sweetness and concentrated, but medium weight. There is a wash of iodine, tobacco leaf and fancy, but definitive, oak presence, but the young wine seems to find a balance anyway. It drives with intensity, great length, architectural structure and finishes with a kiss of violet and blackberry nip. Gutsy, exciting red in a style often mocked for its impressive presence.

Vintage 2007

Fabulous wine of concentration and deliciousness and terrific length and, well hmmm, general impressiveness. Violets, blackcurrant and blackberry with positive oak that tastes of espresso and vanilla. It has density without heaviness and excellent smooth mouth saturating flavour and tannin. In the mould of the 2005 perhaps? Top end wine, no question.
