Higher toned, riper and with slightly more oak than is the current fashion for Grenache, but very much in the Penfolds style. Rustic and autumnal, with suggestions of asian spice, blood plum compote, game and juicy red fruit. Aromatic and approachable.

Medium deep crimson. Musky plum, slight iodine, cola aromas. Generously flavoured and slurpy with ample musky plum, red currant fruits, lovely mid-plate viscosity and well integrated acidity. Firms up at the finish with quartz-like acidity. An early drinking style but I love the fruit definition, weight and vinosity. Best to drink soon – keep for a while.
