A delicious display of pear, apple, grapefruit and white peach flavour, both its sense of generosity and sizzling length in the higher echelons. Steel and spice notes add both interest and race to the wine's overall character. It's an excellent addition to the stable.

It’s named, it pretty much goes without saying, after Max Schubert, who was Chief Winemaker at Penfolds between 1948-1975. This Adelaide Hills chardonnay won’t be released until July. This is intense with grapefruit, apple and white peach flavour; it has a creamy softness (a good thing in itself) but concentration and length are its main assets. Indeed it’s hard to describe this as anything other than a stylish, quality release.
