About this product

Weingut Thorle is the leading light of the second wave of the Rheinhessen Renaissance. Since Johannes and Christoph Thörle took the helm in 2006, they have elevated the estate into a powerhouse for terroir-driven wines and put the village of Saulheim on the global wine map. Their signature lies in the deep limestone soils, producing Riesling and Pinot Noir defined by electric minerality, structural tension, and world-class precision.

A standout German Pinot Noir from the Thörle brothers, the Saulheim Kalkstein Spätburgunder is all about energy and limestone precision. This "high-tension" red is defined by a vibrant acidity and the signature chalky texture that Pinot enthusiasts crave. Hand-harvested and aged for 18 months in French oak, it opens with a complex layer of morello cherries, wild berries, and violets, backed by smoky undertones and dried herbs. Medium-bodied and racy, the wine features fine tannins and a long, salty-mineral finish that perfectly balances ripe fruit with a cool, stony edge. It is a sophisticated, world-class expression of Rheinhessen elegance.
