The palate is pure and intricately detailed, with a great depth of fruit that builds in intensity as it travels across the mid-palate. Flint and slate, lead to nectarine, pomelo and grilled citrus. Seamlessly textured and creamy yeast notes form body and flesh. The finish is persistent, long and precise with savoury phenolics and mineral refreshment. Linear, formed and complex.

The purity and energy in this wine is really impressive with sliced apples, mineral, flint and perfume. It’s full-bodied yet remains energetic and weightless on the palate with terrific length and focus. Center palate is compacted. Goes on for minutes. Really high energy. Drink or hold.

Now, firmly ensconced as one of Australia's pre-eminent chardonnays, tasting the 2020 version of Oakridge 864 was much anticipated by our Wine Panel. Tight and slightly herbal, with elements of sea spray and pithy grapefruit upon opening, a little patience saw soft fleshy stonefruit, grilled nuts, a little gunsmoke and crushed pebble mineral notes emerge. A thrilling and engaging wine that evolves in front of your very eyes. Panelist, Ian Wolfe, described the wine as "magnificent".
