Parcel A
Extremely deep, dark red-purple colour with a blackberry, black olive and black tea aromas, also meaty and sweaty overtones. The wine is very full-bodied, big and brawny, with massive tannins and a degree of chewiness. Some bitterness here too. A blockbuster! Very concentrated and high-impact. This will age long-term and need some time maturing in the cellar. (8 days on skins) 30 JUL 2022.
Parcel B
Extremely deep, dense red-purple colour with a bold and concentrated plummy aroma, layered with earth, graphite and tar, the palate intense and deep, juicy and very drying on the finish, the tannins measured and gentle. There's a touch of elegance to it, in spite of its power. (16 days on skins) 30 JUL 2022.

Whether you already know the effects of maceration (skin contact) on wine, but have never had a chance to observe it, or find that "it's all news to you", this little learning exercise should fascinate. Chief Winemaker at Chapel Hill, Michael Fragos, is a born educator, and this side project, we know, is dear to him. We won't review the two samples. After all, this is your discovery.
