Cut the alcohol without cutting the flavour.

I’ve always thought resolutions starting on January 1 were a bad idea. It’s like trying to learn to ski on a tropical island. A new challenge mid-year though? That I can get behind. It’s winter, everyone’s in their routine, you have bandwidth to take on something new, and (spoiler alert) going dry, or damp, has never been easier, or more satisfying. There are zero%* alc drinks aplenty and they’re finally at the top of their game. Across beer, wine and spirits, non-alcoholic drinks are leaps and bounds from where they began. Here are six new favourites we can’t put down.
Nozecco Peach Bellini

1. Nozecco Peach Bellini

Peachy, fizzy and pink, kick off your session with a punny-named sip that goes with your outfit and is genuinely yum. It’s the perfect thing to pour at a baby shower, where the crowd is more likely to be rolling alcohol-free, or a morning tea, when you want something more than tea. Tasting of stone fruits, cranberries and a hint of almonds, the Nozecco Peach Bellini is a flavourful non-alcoholic option that’s very well made. Of course it is – it’s French! They take their drinks seriously, even when they’re not traditional.

2. Banrock Station Zero Alcohol Shiraz

While you’re doing good for your mind and body, you can also do some good for the environment with this “sans” shiraz. Banrock Station has been partnering with Landcare Australia for two decades, planting 100,000 native species each year. Good karma aside, this is a tasty drop. It’s sophisticatedly designed to please, whether you’re a zero%* connoisseur or it’s your first time skipping the hard stuff.

3. Little Creatures Flying Low Non-Alcoholic

This brew has all the hallmarks of a thoughtfully created craft beer: full-bodied and purposefully flavoured thanks to top-notch hops. The only difference is the alcohol content, which, in this case, is a low 0.5% ABV. To taste, you’ll get passionfruit, citrus peel and tart mandarin, which comes from a hops combination of Chinook, Mosaic and Simcoe. This will mean something to you if you’re in a brew club, but if not, just know that you won’t be missing anything by going non-alc.
4. Asahi Super Dry 0.0%This was a popular alt beer in Japan for years and now that it’s available in Australia, people are making it their go-to and not looking back. It manages to do all the things a satisfying drink should: it’s a little sweet to taste upfront and bitter on the end, and overall refreshing. It’s the full 0%, so no alcohol at all. Just vibes.

5. Sabatini 0.0

This is the sober sister of Sabatini Gin, the flagship bottle of a family-run label that distils botanicals mostly from their Tuscan estate, Villa Ugo. Sabatini 0.0 benefits from these same fertile grounds, and thyme, sage, lavender, olive leaves and lemon verbena give this white spirit its distinct flavour. Use it as you would a gin or a more flavourful vodka.

6. Gordon’s 0.0 Alcohol Free

When it’s time for a Gimlet, Fizz or G&T, Gordon’s is a go-to. A trusted name from the land of gin, London, it’s a brand that knows what they’re doing. So, when they released a non-alcoholic spirit, Gordon’s 0%, it was bound to be just as reliable. Using the same delicately distilled botanicals as their classic London Dry, this is the easiest of bar-cart subs. The gin you love, sans the alcohol.
* “zero%*” means zero% alcohol, which means the product contains not more than 0.5% ALC/VOL
