Everyone’s favourite discontinued coffee-flavoured tequila is coming to Dan’s (for a very limited time).
Team, this is not a drill. Repeat: this is not a drill. Your fave, our fave, everyone’s fave coffee-flavoured tequila is coming back! Yep, that’s right, the very same Patrón XO Cafe that was pulled off shelves in 2021 will be hitting Dan’s aisles imminently, and honestly, we can’t contain ourselves.
When they discontinued this cult icon, Patrón reasoned they wanted to focus on their core tequila range – cue everyone in the clubs/the country/the world dropping to their knees and letting out a loud “Whyyyyyyy meeeee?”. But now, this could just be the greatest comeback story since lowrider jeans weaselled their way back into fashion.
So, when exactly can we get our hot little hands on this cult classic? Are you a My Dan’s member? If you said yes, you’re a lucky duck, because you can skip the queue and pre-order Patrón XO from September 18. But don’t sleep on the pre-order window; it’s open for two weeks and then it’s everyone for themselves – meaning it will hit Dan’s shelves from October 1. Thinking about getting a jump start on your Christmas shopping? Yes, that delicious, coffee-tinged gold would make the perfect gift. But, take heed, at this stage it’s only a limited release (we’ll let you know if that changes, of course), so you’ll want to get in quick.
For those of you who weren’t hitting up the clurbs, rocking it out to Flo Rider or The Black Eyed Peas in the 2010s, let this aged author enlighten you. Basically, Patrón XO Cafe was the GOAT. It was/is an extraordinary blend of ultra-premium tequila and the finest coffee. It’s not overly sweet or too dry, but a perfect middle ground, and it was very often the first and last order that came in at any bar. This writer would know, she was there. It was the drink of choice for tired heels and a pretty safe bet for even your fussiest friends. Great sipped straight, lots of fun on the rocks or, if you were weird enough, over some milk (PSA: not in the club).
Unfortunately, some of us have grown up since the early 2010s so, dropping it low in the club (RIP knees) with a glass of XO is a little unrealistic. We therefore reckon it’s time for a little elevation. Milk and straight is fine, but how about shaking it up in an Espresso Martini? And don’t worry, this isn’t like when Arnott’s thought they could build on perfection – RIP OG Chicken Crimpy. Patrón XO Cafe has worked hard to preserve that same great flavour, so fans can expect it to be 100% the same as before, sans Flo Rida (where did he even go?).
