Our guide to finding your seltzer sweetheart in a bubbly world of flavours, twists and turns.

When hard seltzers first hit the scene in Australia we fell in love – hard. It was like a lightning bolt – an instant crush we couldn’t shake and one that remains to this day. And who can blame us? Light, refreshing and perfect in the sun or on the town – there’s a whole lot to love about seltzers

From international trendsetters to local upstarts, the range and variety of seltzers grows every day. It’s a big, bubbly world out there, one filled with flavours, twists and turns – so how do you navigate the seltzer section without getting your heart broken?

Honestly, it’s hard to put a foot wrong with seltzers (they’re just that easy-going) but to help you find your perfect match we’ve pulled together a speed dating lineup of our current favourites. Below, you’ll find our picks for the seltzers that are worth taking home to meet your parents.

1. The flavour bomb

When it comes to flavour, nobody is doing it like Truly. Their Watermelon and Kiwi Seltzer is an instant favourite for flavour chasers who want more than a whisper of fruit in their hard seltzer. And what’s even better is they’ve managed to do it without any sickly sweetness – a can of Truly is still only 95 calories per serve. Truly put such an emphasis on bold flavours that even a blindfolded person could take a sip and say, “Yep, that’s a Truly.”

2. The OG seltzer with a new twist

Absolute legends of the seltzer game, everybody knows the name White Claw – and has an opinion on which is the best flavour. Well, get ready to start that argument again because a new competitor has just touched down and is ready to come for the title. White Claw Pineapple is the newest member of the Claw clan and it’s come out swinging. With an exceptionally clean finish and just the right amount of lingering sweetness, this delicious drop just might take the crown.

3. The apple that fell far from the tree

Obviously you know the Strongbow name from being one of the world’s most famous cider producers, but did you know they also utilise their apple expertise to craft seltzers too? Strongbow Seltzer Pineapple & Passionfruit is just one of the seltzers that the fruit fiends at Strongbow have ingeniously created using fermented apples. Make no mistake though, this refreshing can sits firmly in the seltzer camp – with the clean, light and natural flavour you’d expect from a top notch seltzer.

4. The goldilocks seltzer

It’s not always easy to find the right seltzer when there’s so much choice in front of you. Thankfully, there’s always Rainbird Cranberry Seltzer – the goldilocks seltzer that you’ve been looking for. Not too sweet, not too bitter and not too understated – it’s just right. Combining cranberry with pure Australian sparkling water and premium spirit, Rainbird have managed to create a seltzer with a refreshing tartness that sets them apart from the pack.
