From the perfectly priced to the extra special, take your pick from 13 of the best bottles for Dad.
If there’s one thing we love as much as wine, it’s Dads. They go together so well, too – both get better with age, they bring us all together and they’re not afraid to stain a white t-shirt. Yeah, wine and Dads are the real heroes in life, which is why we’re big fans of Father’s Day. Let’s show the man some love.
There are plenty of ways to celebrate Father’s Day, but it usually revolves around good food, good drinks and great company. As the big day rolls around for 2025, we reckon it’s only fair to treat Dad to a bottle of something he’ll enjoy, which is why we’ve rounded up a whole heap of great picks.
Whether you’re looking for a budget-friendly bottle, an extra-special premium pick or something to share with Dad on the day, we’ve got you covered – with some excellent member offers also in the mix*. Enjoy your day, Dads (and let us know what you thought of the wine, okay?).

Petaluma White Label Chardonnay
Dads of a certain vintage might recall the bootleg, white label records of the old nightclub days, but in 2025 there’s only one white label worth seeking out – this chardonnay from our friends at Petaluma. It’s the sort of best-of-both-worlds chardy style that’s ideal for any Dad, mixing crisp acidity and a touch of minerality with a one-two punch of texture thanks to French oak and lees stirring.
Shingleback Vineyard Selection Shiraz Grenache
If you ever want a wine that defies its price, look to the classic red blends – and that goes double for this soft and juicy drop from Shingleback. It’s everything we love about both shiraz and grenache, all wrapped up in lightly spiced wine that’s loaded with black fruit flavours. Consider this a winner for Dads who enjoy a wine that plays nice on the dining table that also works just as well as a lively quaffer. And if all he ever goes for is shiraz, this is a gentle nudge in a new – and delicious – direction.
Clare Valley riesling isn’t so much a wine as a lifestyle. It’s the sort of wine that forces you to fantasise about potential food pairings (oysters? Barbecued prawns? Fish and chips on the couch?) and makes you become one of those people who gets disappointed by anything except Clare Valley riesling. One of the best in the game is this sub-$30 bottle from Skillogalee, which brings mouthwatering acidity, citrus and tropical notes, and a heck of a lot of possibilities for any Dad lucky enough to snag one.

Nebbiolo hasn’t always been on the radar here in Australia, but that’s all changing thanks to approachable, meticulously made wines like Pizzini’s La Volpe. Neb (as it’s known to its friends) is typically dry, tannic and full-bodied, making it a seriously food-friendly wine. This version from Pizzini plays the nebbiolo hits, with plenty of berry flavours and rose petal aromas. If there’s a chance Dad is looking for a special-occasion wine for pizza or pasta, consider this a sign.

Josef Chromy Expressions Coal River Valley Pinot Noir 2022
This Josef Chromy Expressions pinot is perfect for your dad – it’s ripe and full of cherry and berry flavours, it’s light-bodied but powerful on the palate, and it’s got enough complexity to justify jumping up a price bracket. You know some other expressions that are perfect for your dad? “Strike a light.” “You flamin’ galah.” “Fair suck of the sauce bottle.” Maybe try them out when you present him with this special bottle on his big day.
Look, Australia does some of the very best chardonnay in the world, and there’s always a time and place for the homegrown. Chablis, though, is really in a world of its own when it comes to chardonnay, and this Simonnet-Febvre example just rams that home. It’s lean, zippy, citrusy and moreish – the sort of chardonnay that you want to drink with the people you love most around a shared meal. Like, maybe, a big Father’s Day spread? Just an idea.

Mount Langi Ghiran The Mast Shiraz
The Grampians is a special place when it comes to wine. The rugged and rocky region of Victoria can get, frankly, bloody cold but that’s really in its favour. As opposed to the big, full-bodied brutes coming out of places like Barossa and McLaren Vale, Grampians shiraz like the Mast from Mount Langi Ghiran tends to be a little more refined, keeping all its black fruits and spice flavours wrapped up in a velvety package. For shiraz-loving Dads, this is hard to top.
Okay, hear us out – we’re not inviting you to call your dad a grandfather by presenting him with this bottle (unless, of course, he is a grandfather). Instead, we hope he’d consider it a mark of deep respect for the genre of father figures. Regardless, we’re sure Dads at all levels of seniority will find plenty to love about this deep, rich, unctuous tawny, which blends batches of old wines to end up with an average age of 20 years. Pair it with cheese or ice cream and you’ve got a happy Dad.

Vanya Cullen is a maverick – there’s really no one like her in Australian wine. Her commitment to biodynamic winemaking and an uncompromising stylistic vision have long made Cullen wines some of the best and most unique in the country, and Diana Madeline sits right at the top of the range. Made in the style of the famous Bordeaux wines (meaning it usually features grapes like cabernet sauvignon, merlot and cabernet franc), Diana Madeline is rich, powerful and loaded with blackcurrant, chocolate and cherry flavours. Dad can even cellar it for a decade or more if he has the patience.
St Hallett Old Block Shiraz 2015
If Dad loves his big, bold and classic Barossa shiraz, go one step further and impress him with this aged beauty. From the 2015 vintage, this wine is made from the old vines of the Barossa, which lend it a hefty whack of richness and depth. If Dad is a fan of wines that don’t beat around the bush, he’ll love this bundle of dense dark fruit flavours and fine tannins, but it still strikes a balance of elegance and complexity. Tell him to save it for his next special steak night (and score yourself an invite).
To enjoy on the day
Joseph Perrier Cuvee Royale Brut Champagne NV
If you’re doing Dad’s Day right, you’ll be toasting the man with a glass of something special – ideally, Joseph Perrier NV. With a 4th century Roman labyrinth as a wine cellar and 200 years and six generations of winemaking on the estate, Joseph Perrier knows the score when it comes to Champagne. This is a fruity and fresh style of Champers that, for us, is best served up alongside your Dad’s favourite pre-dinner (or lunch) snacky bits.
Here’s an opener for you: “Dad, we’re getting worried about you – we think you need to see the doctor.” Then, as you pour your old man a glass of crisp, cold Dr Loosen Dry riesling, everyone will be laughing and having a great time – especially Dad. And, hey, even if the joke doesn’t land (really sorry if that’s the case), everyone will still appreciate the crisp apple and floral notes of this dry-but-not-quite-dry riesling. Pair it with anything from briny oysters to soft cheeses and nail that Father’s Day spread.
Z Wine Rustica Barossa Valley Grenache
Grenache is great because it straddles the line between light and heavy so well. With the Z Wine Rustica Grenache, you’ve got a light-bodied wine that is absolutely bursting with all those juicy raspberry and strawberry flavours you want from a Barossa grenache, making it ideal as a palate-pleaser for everyone from the shiraz heads to the pinot pals. This is especially great as a sunny-day barbecue wine but, honestly, it’s a true all-rounder.
