A range of fresh new beers and cider flavours in ice

Your favourite beers just got the makeover treatment. And trust us, it’s the glow-up you didn’t know you needed.

What do Freaky Friday, Snow White and Stone & Wood’s Radler have in common? No, this isn’t the set-up to an epic horse-walks-into-a-bar joke (although it could be). The answer? They’re all remakes… sort of. Same name, new twist. Some fresher than others (sorry, Ms Lohan).

Now, not every reboot hits the mark (Rise of Skywalker, you broke our hearts). But some of them? They hit us right in the feels. Maybe it’s the nostalgia. Maybe it’s the emotional damage. Maybe it’s just comforting to know Stitch still gets to stay on earth with Lilo. Whatever it is, we’re all in, especially when that remake involves beer. So, lights, camera, action – here are our favourite fresh takes on old classics.

1. Strongbow Hard Cider with Wild Berries

If you’re one of the non-beer drinkers in your crew, chances are you’ve made friends with a Strongbow or two. It’s the trusty cider you grab when the tap list is a mystery and the fridge is a gamble. It’s crisp, easy and always delivers. Well, Strongbow stans, we have good news – we have another one. This time, it’s with the addition of wild berries, jam-packed with juicy berry flavours and finished off with that classic crisp apple snap. Best shared with mates, poured into glasses full of ice (fruity garnish recommended), this bright cider comes in at 8.2% ABV.

Where to take it: Normally, we’d tell you to pair this with a fiery Thai takeaway, and yeah, that combo slaps. But today? We’re going rogue. We’re going French. We’re going chic. That’s right: crepes. Host a little DIY crepe day (bonus points if you manage not to turn them into sad pancakes). Load 'em up with whipped cream and fresh berries. Trust us, your brunch game just levelled up (soz Mimosa). BYO beret.

2. Stone & Wood Radler

Stone & Wood purists, don’t panic, but we’ve got something new on the scene. Say a big, juicy g’day to the Stone & Wood Radler. And before you start clutching your schooners, yes, there’s citrus in it. Breathe. Now take a sniff, take a sip, and just like that, you’re converted. It’s zesty, it’s fresh, it’s light AND it’s got that lemon that everyone and their dogs are going bonkers for (yes lemon is in – still). We’re not here to boss you around, but this season, you’d better be rocking a lemon. And Stone & Wood’s Radler? That’s the best kind of lemon accessory.

Where to take it: Let’s honour the Radler’s German roots and, in true Dan’s Daily fashion, keep the pairings slightly unhinged. So here it is: this is the perfect sipper for when you’re elbow-deep in making your own sausages. Yep, bratwurst and beers, baby. Prost to that.

3. Asahi Fusion

Listen, it’s hard to improve on the genius that is a cold Asahi. It’s perfection. But Asahi Fusion gives it a good nudge with the same smooth sip you love, just with a citrusy twist that keeps things interesting. Yep, of course our old friend lemon makes another appearance, but this time, it’s sharing the limelight (ha) with yuzu. That’s the funky, floral Japanese citrus that’s all the rage, making it a touch more tart and with a subtle floral kick that keeps your taste buds on their toes. It’s fresh and lively, and definitely worth a crack.

Where to take it: Ever played Ultimate Frisbee? That chaotic mash-up of soccer, basketball and a flying disc is weirdly exciting – like cracking an Asahi Fusion after the last goal (or frisbee?). Just like the “sport”, Fusion’s a mix of unexpected elements that somehow just works. Pack a few in the esky, hit the park with your mates, and when the sun’s dipping, the frisbee’s been frisbeed and your legs are cooked, that first sip feels hard-earned.

4. XXXX Ginger

XXXX, you absolute menace. Creating something just as delicious as your signature brew and landing at the same 3.5% ABV? Honestly, how dare you? It’s diabolical. Outrageous. And yet, here we are, sipping it with a suspiciously smug grin, wondering how you’ve pulled it off again. The new brew in question? It’s fresh with a gingery kick that hits you right in the mullet; sharp up front, party out the back. Like that one mate who rocks up to the barbie with a questionable new haircut and somehow still looks like a legend. Familiar, with just enough swagger to pull off five inches too much off the front – and not a millimetre off the back.

Where to take it: Ever been line dancing? Yeah, us either, but it looks like a bloody good time, and we reckon it’ll pair perfectly with an ice-cold XXXX Ginger in hand. So, why not give it a crack? Join a class, crash a country club, or better yet, host your own backyard boot-scootin’ session. It’s toe-tappin’, ginger-sippin’ and the perfect excuse to buy cowboy boots. Yee-haw, baby.

The James Squire Ginger Beer with Lemon

5. James Squire Ginger Beer Lemon

Ginger and lemon? Yeah, someone’s about to become everyone’s favourite. This little beauty from the James Squire crew is straight-up good. It’s a clever blend that knows exactly what it’s doing – warming ginger crashing into bright lemon zest in a combo that’s super tasty. Spicy, zesty and just the right kind of refreshing, this has a lower sugar content than most, and is a flavour match made in heaven. The kind of duo we’d swipe right on every single time.

Where to take it: We’re leaning into BYO-ing this to date night. So, let’s call it a night in: Chinese takeaway, a couple of doonas, and something good on the screen; maybe even a remake (you know we love a theme). How about that new Top Gun? Or whatever that one is with Liam Neeson doing Liam Neeson things. Romantic, right?
