On a budget but after a great bottle? We’ve got you covered (French bubbles included).
We’re not sure about you, but even though the festive season is a distant memory, our wallets are still recovering. If you’re also working within a budget right now, but you’d still like some good wine along the way, we’ve found some solid bargains. The following top picks are made for February’s best moments, from snacks on the balcony and post-beach feasts to catching up on all the Winter Olympics action on the couch.
This month’s selections cover a range of fresh styles, and each one offers serious bang for buck, especially if you’re a My Dan’s member. There are even wines for less than $10, so make sure you’re all signed up – stat.
1. Lisbonita Lisboa Rosé
Peak summer calls for a fun rosé and we’ve found just the thing. If you’re not too familiar with Portuguese wines, the Lisbonita Lisboa Rosé is an excellent intro. This dry, medium-bodied style has notes of juicy strawberries and blackberries, along with fresh acidity. It’s approachable and designed to be enjoyed right now. Throw in a cheese plate and some charcuterie, and everyone’s happy.

3. Noble Fellows Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc
4. Veuve de Vernay Brut NV
Want to know the best thing about international wines? Unless you’re moving in serious wine circles, there’s a good chance your mates will think you’re fancier than you are when they spy the foreign label. This French sparkling is a prime example – spend less than $20 and get a cracking fizz that’s elegant, balanced and fresh. If you need more convincing, check out everyone’s reviews (scroll down under the wine’s details) – people rave.

5. Rewild Pinot Grigio
It’s not just that prosecco we mentioned earlier that Rewild has nailed – this winery produces an entire range of super approachable, reliable wines, as this pinot grigio proves. It’s crisp and zesty, with pear and apple notes, and, as is grigio’s way, this wine will work with pretty much every dish. Pair it with cheese and crackers, lazy dinners in front of the TV (read: cheese and crackers), pasta, salads – this wine will slot right in.
6. Cat Amongst the Pigeons Shiraz
Didn’t think February was for red wines? Crank the barbie, throw some meat, sliced veg and mushrooms on there, serve it all with this friendly shiraz, and we reckon you’ll be converted. This is a Barossa shiraz with layers of flavour, and it leans big, bold and full bodied, so it’s best served with those charry barbie flavours, or even with your midweek pasta, for a perfect match.
