When it comes to serving summer in a glass, Grey Goose and the Australian Open are a match made in tennis heaven.

About the cocktail

Wimbledon’s the posh one, the US Open’s the rowdy one, Roland Garros is the ‘farshun’ one, and the Australian Open? The best one, we reckon, and the absolute epitome of Aussie summer. There’s the bap, bap, bap of tennis balls whizzing across the net, the hiss of cicadas in the sweltering afternoon heat, the electric courtside atmosphere – and the perfect excuse to add a stylish new cocktail to your rotation. Enter the Grey Goose Lemon Ace.

Now, the Grey Goose Lemon Ace isn’t just any cocktail – it’s a signature serve of the Australian Open 2025 – and, as far as we’re concerned, the perfect way to cool off when the weather inevitably soars to unimaginable heights. Grey Goose built this beauty on its legacy of serving premium vodka cocktails at tennis majors worldwide. Following the OG Grey Goose Honey Deuce (the raspberry-spiked fan-fave seen in the hands of Taylor Swift, Serena Williams and Kendall Jenner at the 2024 US Open), this new citrus-forward crowd-pleaser was created exclusively for the upcoming Grand Slam. You’ll find it at the Grey Goose Rooftop at the Aussie Open’s Courtside Bar, as well as in a range of venues around the Melbourne Park precinct (Pink Lemonade, Afloat, Flour Child, Duke of Wellington and Soho included – plus Centennial in Sydney), so you can bet your bottom dollar it’ll be what all the celebs are sipping on right now.

And for those of us who prefer to cheer on our tennis heroes from the air-conditioned comfort of home, we have some tasty news. We’ve managed to nab the official recipe from Grey Goose themselves – and, as it turns out, acing it is a total cinch. It’s all built in the glass, so there’s no faffing with shakers or strainers. Maximum enjoyment for minimum effort? Sign us up.

Crafted in France from single-origin Picardie wheat and natural spring water, Grey Goose is as smooth and sophisticated as vodka gets, making it the ultimate base for a god-tier cocktail. Add a shimmer of sparkling lemonade, a splash of passionfruit tang, and a spot of mint and lemon to garnish, and you’ve got yourself a golden grand slam of a sip. Plus, it’s as photogenic as Wimbledon strawberries, because we all know Instagram gets a little thirsty, too.

Keep your out-of-office on, round up your mates, and lean into those major Aussie summer vibes with the tennis on the telly and a Grey Goose Lemon Ace in hand. Because here’s the thing, if you haven’t had one, you haven’t AO’d. Game. Set. Goose.

Dan’s top tips

  • There’s nothing tricky about this drink – just build it in the glass, over ice. However, spending a little extra time on that garnish will get you truly in the AO spirit. It’s easy: just use a veggie peeler to peel a wide section of lemon zest, then take any metal bottle cap (the kind you might find on a beer or wine bottle is perfect) and press down hard onto the zest (white pith side up) as though you’re using a cookie cutter. Use a toothpick if you need help carefully removing the lemon coin cutout, and ta-da! You’re left with an adorable, tennis-ball-shaped garnish to pop atop your refreshing Grey Goose Lemon Ace alongside the mint. You can also do this ahead of time – just store your lemon coins in the fridge between wet paper towels.
  • For peak refreshment, chill your glasses in the freezer before serving. A frosty glass not only keeps your drink colder for longer but also adds a touch of sophistication to any occasion and ensures every sip is as crisp and refreshing as it should be. So, take a few extra minutes to pop those glasses in the freezer and elevate your drink game to the next level.
