"Medium-deep purple-red colour, bright and youthful; it pours with a marked reductive pong, while the palate is medium bodied and backed with a firm tannin grip that endures. There is jubey flavour and the fruit seems a little overpowered by the tannins—at least at this stage. Decanting is recommended to breathe off the sulfides. Age should soften those tannins."

The estate vines are predominantly over 100 years old and the ’16 vintage won the ’17 Jimmy Watson Trophy. Bright, clear colour announces a perfumed red flower and fruit bouquet, the palate taking that cue and adding some purple fruit and gently savoury notes for the finish. Great value.
