Cascara (which means husk in Spanish) is a tea made from the dried skins of coffee berries. When the coffee plant is harvested for their beans to make coffee, the coffee berry skins are typically discarded during coffee production, but the coffe berry skin has been used in countries like Yemen and Ethiopia to brew tea-like beverages for centuries. With Rubi Red Cascara, we’re tapping into this rich tradition while promoting sustainability by utilising every part of the coffee plant.

Rubi Red is made using real Cascara, with no artificial colouring or flavour additives. The Cascara is steeped in large brewing vats, allowing us to extract all the natural goodness and flavours from the cascara. For our Spiced Cascara, we use real Cinnamon, allowing you to experience the rich and full flavours that only real Cinnamon can give.
We use Erythritol which is a natural sweetener that is extracted from various fermented foods. Its low calorie content, minimal impact on blood sugar, and dental-friendly properties make it an attractive choice for those seeking to reduce their sugar intake while still enjoying the sweet flavours.
We also use Monk fruit extract which is derived from the monk fruit (Siraitia grosvenorii) which is a natural product. There are many health benefits using Monk Fruit Extract as a sweetener, this includes It’s rich in antioxidants, has a low glycemic index and research suggests that it may possess anti-inflammatory properties. Monk fruit extract does not contribute to tooth decay and it contains zero calories.
Rubi Red Natural Cascara has a sweet fruity tea flavour taste with notes of rose hip, hibiscus, cherry, red currant and hints of mango.Rubi Red Spiced Cascara has added cinnamon which gives a pleasant aftertaste that accentuates the sweet fruity taste of the cascara. Both drinks are lightly carbonated to create a refreshing drink that tastes great on its own, or as part of a mixer.
