About this product

Savor the elegance of Wantirna Estate Amelia Cabernet Sauvignon or Merlot 2019, a 750mL cult classic from the Yarra Valley. Crafted by the Egan family from their historic single vineyard near Melbourne, this blend—roughly 65% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot and Cabernet Franc, and 5% Petit Verdot—draws from 1963 plantings, with Petit Verdot from 1989 vines, all dry-farmed for intensity. Fermented in small 1000L tanks with extended skin contact, it’s aged in French oak, delivering a medium-bodied wine with a deep ruby hue. The nose mesmerizes with blackcurrant, violets, graphite, and cigar-box spice, evolving to licorice and red fruits. The palate is refined, with cassis, redcurrant, and tobacco, framed by fine, chalky tannins and a long, structured finish. Rated 96 points by Gary Walsh (The Wine Front) for its “beautiful” balance and 20 plus years of cellaring potential, this Amelia is a collector’s gem, perfect for pairing with roasted lamb or beef tenderloin.
