MullineSutherlands Creek Chardonnay 2021
About this product
Unveil the refined brilliance of Mulline Sutherlands Creek Chardonnay 2021, a 750mL gem from Geelong’s Moorabool Valley, crafted by the award-winning Mulline Vintners, named 2025 Halliday Best Value Winery. Sourced from the Strathmore Vineyard on Muhlebach Road, planted in 1998 with Clone P58 on grey and brown clay loams with fragmented granite, this Chardonnay reflects the region’s diversity. Hand-picked and barrel-fermented with full solids, it matured 8 months in 25% new French oak barriques and puncheons, without malolactic fermentation, yielding a bright green-gold hue at 12.5% ABV. The nose opens with white nectarine, peach, and lemon verbena, revealing savoury nutty notes and grapefruit pith. The palate is elegant and persistent, offering grilled peach, citrus, and a mineral-driven, chalky finish with a touch of smoked cedarwood. Rated highly for its “power, poise, and persistence” by Campbell Mattinson (The Wine Front), this Chardonnay pairs beautifully with grilled seafood or creamy pasta, with 4-6 years of cellaring potential. A collector’s treasure showcasing Geelong’s terroir.
