The Fallow Second Crop is the third expression in a set of four seasonal limited edition whiskies from the Lochlea Distillery. The Fallow edition is a reflection on the season of autumnwhen the fields are left fallow to rest after a busy harvest. This period is taken to regenerate the land for the next crop. The Lochlea Fallow Edition Second Crop has been matured in two different casks, both sherry. 55% is ex-Pedro Ximénez Sherry and 45% is ex-Oloroso Sherry. Bottled at 46% Alc/Vol.
Our Tasting Notes
Nose:Sweet honey notes mingle with golden syrup, brown sugar and plump raisins. Toasted hazelnuts, ripe figs and dates combine with milk chocolate. Hints of candied orange peel and baked apple. Very inviting!
Palate:Syrupy and bold, Cognac-soaked prunes, sultanas, raisins, figs, dates, very fruity. Now there’s melted dark chocolate and hints of treacle toffee with underlying baked apple and toasted hazelnuts. Quite moreish!
Finish:There’s a long fruity finish. Prunes and dates, orange oil with more toasted hazelnuts. A sweet malty appears and combines with a hint of black pepper.
