WatkinsLanghorne Creek Shiraz 2020
About this product
Awards:
91 Points - Halliday
95 Points - Wine Showcase Magazine
92 Points - Sam Kim
Tasting Notes:
The savoury nose gives way to a burst of fruit upon first taste. Varietal Shiraz spiciness combines with tight tannins and finishes with a touch of European oak.
Winemaking:
To begin with, this wine was fermented as more than 10 individual parcels, 30% of this wine has spent 2 months in our large format, aged oak vats with a combination of newer oaks being used including multiple different toasts of Hungarian and American oak. The result is a rich and generous wine, with the structure to be able to mature but with current complexity to make you want to drink now.
Vineyard:
Grown on estate from our Langhorne Creek Vineyard which is situated off the heavy alluvial soils of the flood plains, on shallower terrra rossa soil, ideal for precision control over water use on the vines and known to provide more structural wines.

Estate grown, 10 parcels in the winery, maturing in a range of mostly larger, old oak vessels with some newer barrels also in the mix. Rich, ripe shiraz as well as that faint background of mint and chocolate, more milk than dark. Chewy palate textures while the fruit lingers. A good-value shiraz with genuine regional expression.
