EluraAlpine Valleys Heritage Release Cabernet Sauvignon 2002
About this product
“Still youthful and drinking exceptionally well, these bottles are worth seeking out for a chance to taste Cabernet at its developing best, but with at least another ten years to go: loads of vibrant primary blackcurrant/cassis fruit, secondary vanilla oak and tertiary flavours of leather and forest floor. Dreamy.” – Melissa Moore, Sommelier.
These rare bottles are closed with the original ‘Gundowringla’ cork of our parents’ label and each bottle is individually hand-dipped in wax by Brendan. The 2002 Heritage Release Cabernet Sauvignon was Mark’s first ever vintage at Gundowring. We rediscovered a small quantity of these bottles while moving stock and having sampled several bottles were delighted that they are drinking exceptionally well, with fresh fruit balanced by soft tannins. With Trudi and Ian’s blessing we’ve labeled them under the Elura label.

Dry wines have no trace of sweetness at all.

Perfectly modulated cabernet varietal fruit; blackcurrant with just a splash of cassis; medium-bodied, smooth and supple, with controlled oak and tannins; impressive for the region.
