McLaren Vale Single Vineyard Reserve Shiraz 2016

This McLaren Vale Shiraz was selected at a pre-bottling tasting of all the 2016 French Oak hogsheads. The wine had been open fermented for 10 days, basket pressed and then matured in oak hogsheads. Wine in the outstanding six barrels was bottled  - 100% French oak matured for 18 months. Three of these six barrels were new oak.

The wine is a deep purple with wonderful rich aromas of ripe plums, dark berries and a hint of chocolate, peppery spice and hints of cedary French oak. On the front palate the wine is densely opulent and packed with flavours of ripe red fruit - the dark plum and blackberry predominating, with complex intense flavours of chocolate, licorice and spice with violet overtones. The tannins are subtle and soft, and well integrated with the opulent fruit. These wonderful flavours linger on the mid palate. This wine will continue to impress over many years.
