A more comprehensive expression, also containing a 5% smidgeon of sauvignon. Some skin contact and 9 months in American oak, to boot. Not really the right oak for this sort of thing, but the wine's idiosyncrasies win me over by virtue of the additional textural detail and intensity of flavour. That herbs, tonic, a squeeze of lemon and an inconspicuous – but still palpable – waft of vanilla. Long and chewy, in a way that suggests further intrigue will come with patience.
