Mount StapyltonDon Shiraz 2018
About this product
The 2018 Don Shiraz was our first release as new owners of the vineyard.
Fruit was handpicked to enhance best quality and this particular season was outstanding.
After natural fermentation of 2 weeks the wine was pressed off skins and then rack to (25% new) French and American barriques for the next 15 months.
The wine displays a lovely deep purple crimson colour, ripe blueberries and spices, a touch of black pepper and is rounded out by generous palate flavours.
Cellaring and decanting will further enhance this wine.
A special wine that is drinking superbly now or save for that special occasion.

Full bodied red wines have a noticeably textural mouthfeel with bold, complex flavours. Often deeply coloured.
Dry wines have no trace of sweetness at all.

An elegant mid-weighted shiraz, displaying all the benign regional influences and none of the negative ones. Aromas of plum, redcurrant and blackberry sashay effortlessly along a skein of peppery acidity. Finely tuned, fresh and graceful. Thankfully. The finish is long with a velour of gentle, sappy tannins… James Halliday
