An annual limited edition from Suntory's Yamazaki distillery, this non-age statement expression is crafted with various different cask types and vintages to create a highly sought-after release.
A special small batch Yamazaki Limited Edition released in 2017. The Limited Edition series from Yamazaki first appeared in 2014, presumably to try and take some pressure off the dwindling stocks of Yamazaki 12-year-old and 18-year-old.
This 2017 Yamazaki Limited Edition was the last of the series before a hiatus that lasted until 2021, and is a multi-vintage assemblage including some 20-year-old sherry-matured casks and younger ex-bourbon casks.
Tasting Note:
Nose - At the beginning you get a complete floral bomb. The entry into a flower garden in which the lavender easily stands out from many odors. This experience changes quite quickly into a sweet fruit (apricot, peach). Some dark honey is still there at the end. These impressions are accompanied throughout by a pleasant Fasscharakter and give this malt the opportunity to have something older in it.
Taste - Hazelnut paired with lavender, the true unfolding appears only when swallowing. Nice pleasant tingle in the mouth.
Finish - Warm, beautiful finish, soothing down the neck. Slight sweet note with recurring green tea.
