PertaringaUndercover Shiraz Vertical Vintage 6 Pack
About this product
The Undercover Shiraz is named in recognition of McLaren Vale’s history of supplying other regions with our finest red grapes. Known as the mid palate of Australia, McLaren Vale fruit is well regarded for its ability to improve the quality and richness of wines from other regions. This vertical pack includes a mix of the 2015, 2016 and 2018 vintages.
2015: The nose offers complex aromas of apricots, plums, pretty floral notes and hints of cloves. The palate is dense and concentrated with wild strawberries and plums, complemented by velvety tannin.
2016: Totally opaque midnight black core with a deep bright dark red black hue. Pronounced black cherry, blackberry and liquorice aromas overlay toasty vanillin cedar, subtle notions of black olive and blackpepper. Rich luscious black cherry and liquorice flavours intermingle with some ripe blackberries underpinned by infusions of graphite and toasty cedar with a very prominent blackpepper finish. Tight grippy feel on the back palate with a robust framework of tannins and well balanced acidity carrying the fruit well. Long black cherry, liquorice, subtle graphite and blackpepper aftertaste.
Cellar 5-6 years.
2018: The 2018 offers a big bouquet of raspberries and cherries with a dash of pepper and other spices. The palate is big, rich and seductive with the berry fruit following through, complemented by a hint of minerality and great structure on the lingering finish.
