This wine is garnet red in colour. The nose shows notes of cassis, black currants and touches of mint. The palate is rich and savoury with integrated tannins. It will cellar well for up to 15 years.
Fruit for this wine was handpicked from the single vineyard site “The Gate” at the entrance of our Yarra Valley property. These vines are planted on a gentle slope facing a north-west aspect producing favorable growing conditions. Vinification occurred in open top fermenters. Hand plunging was used to aid colour and tannin extraction. It was then matured in new and seasoned French tight grained oak barrels for 12 months.
