From a vineyard noted for gravel soils set over a granitic profile. The fragrance is a little mute but does deliver boysenberry, game meat, violets and white pepper. Flavours are a bit more distinct and bold, richer, although orange-juice acidity pokes out a little, undermining the flow of fruit and spice characters. A general sense of freshness is appealing, while gummy tannins reset the palate well. It needs time to find a better balance, and in its current incarnation, is a little skittish in its elements.
