Bull Lane Shiraz 2018 Posted on 08 April 2020. From Simon Osicka of Paul Osicka fame. Mount Camel range zone for the vineyard. These are nice wines. Unashamedly honest. Blue fruits and some plummy stuff with salted liquorice and faint eucalyptus. Full flooding of senses but the wine feels fresh and vibrant, lots of flavour here but doesn’t stick to the mouth and the general takeaway message is ‘easy to drink’ and ‘really nice wine’. There’s some good, flighty tannins that cinch the wine nicely and draw it long. Flavours seem cooler than the alcohol on the label and everything feels driven by fruit rather than winemaking. Concentration is en pointe too, but not over done. Really good drink. A perfect winter warmer.

2015 Munari Wines Ladys Pass Heathcote Shiraz Oak and fruit sit slightly separate but it's a quibble. This is seductively fruited (and oaked), its flavours of rich plum, black cherry, peppercorn and sweet sawdust pouring lusciously through the palate. A cold night, a bottle of this; you're sorted.
