Green Door WinesAmphora Garnacha 2017
About this product
Originally from Spain, Garnacha (or Grenache as it is otherwise known) is a vigorous varietal that requires meticulous canopy management. Our vines are now 20 years old and are producing intense flavoured fruit, giving rise to a medium bodied wine.
The Garnacha fruit is hand-picked and de-stemmed into amphora clay pots lined with bees wax. Some whole bunches were added to the pots at this stage. The ferment was initiated using wild yeast. When dry, the ferment was pressed off into old oak for Malolactic fermentation and cellared for twelve months before bottling.
Tasting Notes: Brilliant garnet in colour, the aromas are strawberries and bramble bush. The palate is soft and inviting, with sweet strawberries, vanilla, and fine chalky tannins.
