About this product

Named in honour of my Great Great Grandfather Walter Hackett

HACKETT, Walter, 1827-1914, was born in England and emigrated to Australia on the Francis Henty, in 1852. After trying his luck on the Victorian gold fields in 1854 he became a partner with his brother Elisha in an Adelaide business known as E. & W. Hackett, seedsmen, Rundle Street. He was a leader in the South Australian agricultural and horticultural community and was elected Vice President Royal Agricultural and Horticultural Society 1867- 1909.

Tasting Note - Selected single vineyards and fermented separately and aged in 30% new French oak for 18months before creating a blend of Shiraz, Grenache and Mataro in the Rhone style with the Grenache dominating the front palate and then the Shiraz giving the mid palate length and the soft tannins and black fruit from the Mataro to finish.

Food Match: Roast Duck.
