Vintage 2018
91 points Wine front
Grown on the Kings Road vineyard in the Coal River Valley, Tasmania. Unfiltered and with minimal sulphur. (Bottle image is for illustrative purposes only; actual label is a different/lighter colour). Interesting wine. Complex and then some. Decaying autumn leaves, sweet-sour cherry, hung meat, twiggy spice. It’s most certainly savoury but it’s also fragrant and lively. It has an in-built tension and a fine, dry, almost drying finish, complemented by ‘smoked stalk’ notes. It’s a little bit wild, a little bit on edge, a little bit fungal, and that’s all part of what makes it interesting.
