KellybrookYarra Valley Pinot Noir 2019
About this product
The grapes were sourced from two polar vineyards in the Yarra Valley. This includesthe home vineyard in Wonga Park(55%)and an "Upper Yarra" vineyard(45%). Although the clone is the same (MV6), the growing conditions are significantly different, as are the characteristics of the grapes and wines. Once the grapes arrived into the winery, the grapes were split across multiple ferments to encourage multiple winemaking techniques such as whole bunch fermentation, extended maturation and extra long cold soaking. Each parcel was treated on merit to maximise potential quality. After pressing, each component was individually run to barrel (15% new) for maturation and a natural malolactic fermentation. After 6 months in oak, the components were carefully assembled in October/November 2018.The appearance is a deep, vivid ruby. There are aromas of cherry, strawberry and rhubarb. This is followed by complex weave of red petal and spice notes such as nutmeg, clove and star anise. The palate is moreish. More red berry fruit notes are intertwined with orange rind, sarsaparilla and subtle pencil shaving oak characters. The finish completes this interesting wine by being long and persistent, all the while continuing the beautiful fruit characters. These wines are made with “drink now” appeal, however the high standard allows this wine to age for up to 8 years from vintage. A recommended pairing is baked salmon with dill on top of wafers of parsnip chips and baked asparagus. 850 Dozen Produced
